Jeeeeeeeez! Last week was a crazy busy week!

Started off on Monday with my birthday which was a reasonably quiet night as i was saving the celebrating for my birthday bash the following Friday, we had planned to all go for a nice meal and a few bottles of wine but as it turned out we settled for a KFC and a few drinks down the pub as it was so much easier! My card from my son had two tickets to the spurs match the next day inside (i took him with me of course!) and Spurs won the match 3-1 RESULT! overall a good birthday and i still had the birthday bash to come!

By Wednesday there were only 50 tickets left for my birthday bash and my phone was ringing constantly, i started to regret choosing such a small venue for the bash as it was becoming obvious that we were gonna struggle to fit everyone inside the venue! to add to the chaos i had a friend of mine from a Russian UK Garage website staying on my sofa for a couple couple of days as she was "couch surfing" her way around London and getting a real taste for the UKG scene as well as getting a behind the scenes look at several events. She stayed for a couple of nights, interviewed me and then off she went with her case to the next couch! QUALITY!

Friday was the day of my birthday bash and tickets were totally sold out! The place was ramjam and the vibes were good! in fact the vibes were so good that i forgot about having to be up at 8.30 sat morning and proceeded to drink copious amounts of champagne and brandy and losing my voice! i finally got to bed at about 8 after a little after party at mine! you know how we do!

Saturday morning 8.15 my phone rings and its Keflon asking if i have a turntable that we could use in the Shystie video shoot! its at that moment that i thought to myself "shit i really shouldn't have drunk so much!" don't ask me how but i managed to drag myself out of bed, still drunk and got into a cold shower, when i looked in the mirror my eyes were so red i had to laugh, I'm a fukin nightmare! Anyway i finally made it to the hackney empire (where the shoot was being done) at about 12.30 which turned out to be perfect as i only had to wait around for a short while before i did my small part for the vid, i also got to meet up with Shystie (who was looking amazing!) and some of the dj's from the bassline scene up north who we have been working with via the label which was awesome, make sure you look out for the video/track SHYSTIE FEAT SUBZERO - PULL IT coming very soon, ill also be posting some behind the scenes footage of the video shoot later this week!

pheeeeeeeeew see i told ya it was a busy week! I wouldn't want it any other way!

STUDIO - BEEF - RADIO - FLU

Another hectic week is over and another equally busy week begins!

Finally managed to deliver the seven wonders dub mix last week! in the end it was a relief to have finished the project as my workload is seriously backed up right now, so i spent most of last week doing 20 hour studio sessions mon to thur! then had Thursday to recover and spent Friday mixing all the tracks down that we had worked on. As well as finishing the seven wonders project, shubzie and i have been working on some backing tracks for a very high profile UKG singer/songwriter (all will be revealed very soon) and also managed to squeeze in a songwriting session with Rubi Dan which turned out very well! Look out for the Funky Dip Riddim coming soon!

It was a tough week indeed! on top of the studio activity iv been organising ticket sales for my birthday bash and ended up falling out with one girl who seemed to think that she deserved free tickets..... i don't know why? apparently she gets into all of the top nights for nothing! well as we all know refusal often offends and this led to the girl going into some long ting tirade against me on facebook and trying to expose some personal stuff that id (allegedly lol) done with a some other girl! haha couldn't believe it! must admit it caught me a bit off guard and i was pretty pissed off! on the very same day that happened i found out that although one of our tracks is featured on the Ministry of Sound compilation "sound of bassline 2" the wrong track details had been printed (don't ask me how?) and they had managed to forget to include the artists name, looooong so I'm currently trying to get to the bottom of it and do some damage limitation! needless to say i was glad when that day was over!

also last week..... the Garcia radio curse reared its ugly head again on Saturday...... I managed to make it to my show for the first time since id agreed to do the show last year! I walk in and the mc says........"the mic is fucked mate!" I'm like "what u mean, its shit?" hes like "nah cuz it aint working at all!" so i spent the first half of my show playing records whilst frantically trying to find another mic or mic lead or anything that might make my journey worthwhile, but to no avail! after an hour of looking i gave up and resigned to the fact that i was just gonna have to play beats and the odd jingle which meant i couldn't do the competition id planned! plus it cost me £36 in cab fares so again i was pretty pissed when i got home, i checked my facebook...... then i got a message from the dj who does the show after me saying that they had fixed the mic! ain't that a bitch! fuck it tho i will be back there this week - Saturday 6-7.30pm Don 93.0fm or www.donlive.co.uk and I'm taking my own mic this week!

On top of all this i now have a serious case of man flu...... Hows my luck? tell ya what i thought it was all going a bit too smoothley! hahaha BRING IT ON!

2009! A New Beginning!

Ok so as you know by now cos you are reading this, i have made a new years resoloution to write a regular blog keeping you all up to date with what is going on in my world from week to week.

why?

Two main reasons.... 1. to give you an insight of what life is REALLY like for an independant artist/entrepenuer and 2. To help me get my head around my hectic and sometimes out of control life! im sure that getting my frustrations aired and indulging myself in my ongoing achievements can only be a positive and thereputic process.

right so thats the why and you know the where cos your here so the only other question is when?

and the answer is basically whenever there is news of any kind in my life i will do a blog and keep y'all posted.

Last year (2008) was a really good year for me in the industry overall, i really feel that we (myself and my long suffering brother) achieved alot with the relaunch of Kronik Music and we made some really good new alliances within the scene. I also parted ways with all of the company's that i felt were not representing me properly as an artist which was a bold move, but also the right move for me at this time in my career. Last year the achievements were more than i hoped for and i feel that we laid some solid foundations to build on, featuring on the biggest compilations again was a good look even more so when my new track B.a.s.s.l.i.n.e. feat MC Neat was included on the PURE BASSLINE cd! look out for that this year it will be getting a full release through Nip N Tuck Recordings.

Some of the other things that made last year such a good one for me were the trip to Russia, that was an amazing expierience to represent UKG in a place like that, a very humbling booking that made me come over all patriotic! ha ha! Also the quote in DJ international magazine "one of the main inspirations for bassline" was extremely flattering! Then we come to the now legendary Kronik Music events in portugal which were totally off the hook and inspired me to relaunch the IT'S A LONDON THING events as a regular thing, last year there were 4 IALT events and each and every one of them was totally electrical! NEW YEARS EVE was alot! sorry if you were one of the 150 who didnt get in but we will be doing a payback party soon to make up for it in a bigger venue!

So thats it really a quick overview of last year!

This year i intend to work 100% harder! and play 50% harder!
